My second Beachbody Coach Summit was just as unforgettable as my first! I learned so much and met so many great people! I can’t believe I was lucky enough to have this even just an hour from home two years in a row.
Beverly, my Coach friend who went with me last year, and I headed up on Thursday. Road trip! She had to be there a bit early to sign in for the Beachbody Classic, the physique contest to show off those muscles you’ve worked so hard to define. Needless to say, she’s a braver woman than me!
While some things were very much the same this year as last, some things were very different. The locations were all familiar now, and we knew what to expect and how things work at Summit. We were sad that Jenn couldn’t join us this year, but Katie, a new Coach, drove up on Friday to spend most of Summit with us.
Instead of staying out near the Nashville airport and driving into downtown every day, we found a hotel in walking distance from the main events. I had one big problem though – I had developed plantar fasciitis in both feet, and it was flared up pretty badly the week of Summit. All that walking was rough on my feet, but it was SO worth it. Walking to all the events was SO much easier than driving back and forth!
We were only allowed to pick one smaller workout this year, and I wanted to see a different trainer. In 2015, I worked out with Shaun T one day and Autumn Calabrese the next. For 2016, I decided I’d try Turbo with Chalene Johnson. I had never done a Turbo workout before. Ever. Not TurboJam, not TurboFire, not TurboKick. I knew my foot problems would keep me from being too active in a workout anyway, so why not try something new?
I may not have been able to keep up with the workout, but I definitely learned something about Turbo that day… Turbo has the most die hard fans of all the workouts! Chalene was awesome in leading the group, and it was so cool to watch her dedicated fans absolutely nail it!
We wrapped up Thursday by piling all of us – all 22,000+ Coaches – into Nissan Stadium for some recognition and announcements. Beachbody definitely put on a great show!
Friday was mostly spent in training. We had some VERY inspirational speakers! It’s awesome to spend time listening LIVE to some of the very best coaches in the entire Team Beachbody community. Plus we had Gary Vaynerchuk as the key note speaker. I positively LOVE his no nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is style! He definitely made some great points about how to be a great coach.
We did take time on Friday to visit my absolute favorite spot in all of the Coach Summit – The Core! It’s a HUGE room filled with workout clothes, jackets, DVD sets, accessories, supplements, etc. – all kinds of swag for you to take home from Summit! All at a special discount for the event, too. I found some GREAT buys in The Core!
Saturday started bright and early with the Super Workout on Broadway. This year, they turned some of the screens so people could see from the side roads. The 22,000+ Coaches filled up not only 6 blocks of Broadway but also the first block or two to the side at each intersection!
Thankfully we were NOT packed as tight together as we were last year, and I didn’t have someone practically touching me throughout the Super Workout! After a short workout with each trainer – including the newest trainers, Joel and Jericho from the new Core de Force series – 90 minutes had passed. We were all a sweaty mess, even though we started at 6am! It’s hot in TN in July!
The huge advantage of being in walking distance was that we were able to get back to our hotel, shower, and return to Music City Center in time for another full day of training. At sunset, we crossed the pedestrian bridge to head back to Nissan Stadium one last time.
Beachbody presented many awards as we celebrated everyone’s success and accomplishments for 2016. They ended the night with a fantastic fireworks show!
After two years in a row in Nashville, Coach Summit is moving on to its next destination – New Orleans, LA! I’ve already got my ticket and a hotel room booked! Want to go with me? First, you need to join my team of Coaches, then we’ll work on getting you all set up to attend Summit 2017!
