Like most moms out there, I have many hats I wear. The two that come into conflict the most are “health and fitness coach” and “Girl Scout troop leader.” Why? Every February my daughters sell cookies! The worst part is that I’m the perennial troop cookie mom, so we have literally hundreds of boxes of cookies in our living room for a month. I can pass up a cupcake or piece of pie, but I have a hard time saying no to a cookie, especially those Samoas!
I am an advocate for allowing treats. A cookie or two here and there will not derail your progress toward your health and fitness goals. The problem with Girl Scout cookies is that I can put away an entire box of Samoas in a single day. There was a time when I would have guessed the serving size of Thin Mints to be “one sleeve.” I just can’t be trusted around an open box of these cookies!
Since I have to be around these cookies so much, I decided that I need a similar tasting but healthier option. I drink a super food meal replacement shake every day for breakfast, and most of my recipes for my shakes taste like dessert. I’ve spent the past month experimenting with my shakes, and I’ve come up with four recipes that match the cookies – Thin Mints, Samoas, Do Si Dos, and Tagalongs. My shakes don’t taste exactly like the cookies because there’s no where near as much sugar. They are, however, close enough to fix my sweet tooth and curb my cookie cravings.

Thin Mint Shake
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 scoop chocolate Shakeology
- ½ tsp mint extract
- Ice as desired
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Note that this recipe calls for mint extract and not peppermint extract. Mint made the shake taste more like Thin Mints. Peppermint made it taste more like Junior Mints or a York Peppermint Patty.
Samoas Shake
- 1 cup lite coconut milk
- 1 scoop chocolate Shakeology
- 2 tbsp toasted coconut
- ½ tsp caramel extract
- Ice as desired
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Top your shake with a few extra toasted coconut flakes for a little extra yum!
Do Si Do Shake
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1 scoop vanilla Shakeology
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 2 tbsp quick cooking oats
- Ice as desired
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Note that unsweetened vanilla almond milk works better for this recipe. If you only have regular unsweetened almond milk, add a 1/4 tsp of vanilla extra before you blend.
Tagalong Shake
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1 scoop chocolate Shakeology
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- Ice as desired
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Like the Do Si Do recipe above, note that unsweetened vanilla almond milk works better for the Tagalong recipe. If you only have regular unsweetened almond milk, add a 1/4 tsp of vanilla extra before you blend.
