I had my final weigh-in for an accountability program yesterday. Near the end of the program, I was up 10 pounds from my starting point – not at all where I should have been! Getting back to my starting point was not realistic, but getting back to a healthy BMI – a healthy weight for my height – was within reach.
Part of my gain was from stress eating. More of it was from sweets cravings that I just couldn’t stop. I decided I’d spend the three days leading up to my final weigh-in doing a program called the 3 Day Refresh. I’ve done this before and dropped 6 to 7.5 pounds each time. It has always reduced bloating for me, and it kills my sugar/carb cravings. It was simply time for another Refresh!
The program is like a cleanse, but you still eat some solid foods – all fruits and vegetables. The kit comes with 3 shake mixes for each day plus a fiber drink. I know the thought of a good dose of fiber makes people cringe, but let me tell you – it doesn’t taste bad. If you chug it quickly, the texture isn’t bad. Plus it has never sent me running to the bathroom. With the shakes, fiber, and water plus the fruits and veggies, you eat or drink something every couple of hours. You don’t have time to get hungry! The vegetarian dinner recipes I’ve tried have all been delicious. Check out my dinner from Sunday night (minus the protein shake that goes with it):
I did not complete the program perfectly this time because on day three I found myself in a situation that required activity and therefore extra calories. Because you only get about 800-900 calories each day of the Refresh program, they recommend that you stick to light exercise. My day involved way too much movement for that calorie count! My FitBit recorded 22,747 steps that day! I ate far more at lunch than the program says to, but I definitely burned off those extra calories with all that activity.
My results for this round is 5 pounds lost. It’s the lowest amount of weight I’ve lost doing this program, but I’m not going to complain for a couple of reasons. One, I didn’t complete day three correctly since I ate more and moved more than the program recommends. Two, this loss brings me back to a healthy BMI (a healthy weight for my height) – including at my final weigh-in. I’m VERY happy about that!
My dress pants yesterday and my denim capris this morning both fit MUCH better because I’m much less bloated. My carb/sweets cravings are gone. Best of all, I feel great!! It sounds so counter-intuitive, but having gone through that short time of cleansing with under 900 calories per day – it has left me with WAY more energy! I feel fantastic!! There’s just something about getting all the junk and processed nastiness out of your system.
I discovered another effect from my 3 Day Refresh this morning… See this anklet?
I tried to wear it Sunday to church, but I couldn’t quite get it hooked. Even if I had, it would have cut into my ankle. I saw it this morning and wondered if it would work now. Check it out! Not only can I easily fasten it, but also it’s a little loose on that last loop. The bloating gone from my belly is out of my ankles, too. There was a time when this anklet was loose even on the 4th loop. I’m not back there yet, but I’m making progress! Now if I could just find time to paint my toenails!
I do recommend trying this program sometime – before a big event or after a vacation filled with bad food choices are great times for a 3 Day Refresh. You can do it once a month or just as needed. Contact me if you’re interested! I’ll send you more info on the kit, and if you decide to try it, I’ll support you through the program and answer any questions you have.
